Chesterfield County has a population of just over 42,000 residents. The County is located in northeastern South Carolina on the border with North Carolina. The County is adjacent to the Charlotte metropolitan statistical area (MSA) as well as the Florence, SC MSA. The Charlotte MSA grew in population by nearly 28 percent from 2000-2008 with a total population of more and 1.3 million. The Florence MSA grew 3.5% during the same period and has an overall population of 200,000.
