| Chesterfield County Industry Appreciation |
| September 24, 2009 |
| Caution…..Construction “and” Progress in Chesterfield County, according to the recent Industry Appreciation invitation from Chesterfield County Economic Development. The invitation lists numerous construction projects, large and small, all around the county. “It’s a sign of real progress. The projects are not all industrial, but they either support industrial development or are a result of the impact our existing industries have on the economy,” said Cherry McCoy, Executive Director. September 22, 2009 will mark the county’s 17th annual observance of Industry Appreciation Week. This celebration is a culmination of community efforts and recognition that further demonstrate support for Chesterfield County’s business and industry. The annual event is an opportunity to say thank you to area companies for the many contributions to local communities, as well as to build awareness among the citizens of Chesterfield County that existing business is a fundamental driver of both the local and state economy. Local companies provide jobs, support the state and local tax base and contribute to every aspect of community leadership. Chesterfield County industries pay 33% of all county property taxes. In addition, for every one dollar received in taxes, on average $1.47 is spent on services provided to residential users, whereas, $0.33 is spent on services provided to industries. This clearly demonstrates the subsidy for our citizens made by industries and their value to Chesterfield County. “On behalf of Chesterfield County Council, I would like to express our deepest appreciation to all Chesterfield County industries, said J. Matthew Rivers, Chairman. This is a great time to recognize the contributions of business and industries of all sizes for providing quality jobs for our citizens. This Council continues to work every day towards an ideal business-friendly atmosphere in which to grow a business.” added Rivers. Chesterfield County’s 17th Annual Industry Appreciation Pig Pickin’ honoring industry leaders will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in Chesterfield. Business leaders and allies will meet over great BBQ, music and fellowship to not only express appreciation, but to assess needs and concerns- it’s an annual opportunity for valuable networking.
